翻译原文
近年来，中国有越来越多的城市开始建设地铁。发展地铁有助于减少城市的交通拥堵和空气污染。地铁具有安全、快捷和舒适的优点。越来越多的人选择地铁作为每天上班或上学的主要交通工具。如今，在中国乘坐地铁正变得越来越方便。在有些城市里，乘客只需用卡或手机就可以乘坐地铁。许多当地老年市民还可以免费乘坐地铁。
第一句解析
第一句，
“近年来，中国有越来越多的城市开始建设地铁。”
首先，分析句子的主谓宾结构。
句子的中心点不是“中国有什么”，而是“城市在干什么”。
所以主语应该是“城市city”，“越来越多的”作为前置定语修饰“城市“。
“越来越多的”的词组为an increasing number of +名词，a growing number of +名词，a considerable of +名词。(considerable：adj.相当多的，相当大的；considerate：adj.考虑周到的，体贴的)
谓语是“开始做某事begin to do sth.”
宾语是“地铁”，即subway/metro。(如果你的城市有地铁，可以在坐地铁的时候观察一下，你就会发现“metro”这个英文单词。单词无处不在。)
其次，要分析句子的时态问题。
这句话中有一个时间标志，就是“近年来”，
即in recent years，多与现在完成时have done连用。
第一句的译文为“In recent years, an increasing number of cities in China have begun to build subways.”
(动词原型-过去式-过去分词：begin-began-begun)
第二句解析
第二句，
“发展地铁有助于减少城市的交通拥堵和空气污染。”
主语是“发展地铁”。
动词不能作主语，但是动名词可以作主语，即在动词的基础上加上ing形式，给动词赋予了名词的作用。如：动词“发展”是develop，变成动名词+ing为developing。
也可以将“发展”这个动词的词性换成名词（注意：不是动名词，是名词），即理解为“地铁的发展”。
动词develop的名词是development。
谓语是“有助于”。除了help to do表示“帮助”，也可以换个高级一点的词汇表达：contribute to，be conductive to。
“减少”的英文表达有：reduce，decrease，lessen，diminish，curtail。
“增加”的英文表达有：increase，add，augment，raise，grow
“交通拥堵”：traffic jams/congestion。
“空气污染“：air pollution/contamination。（都是不可数名词）
第二句的译文为“The development of subways is conductive to reduce traffic congestion and air contamination in cities.”
第三句解析
第三句，
“地铁具有安全、快捷和舒适的优点。”
主语是“地铁subway”。
谓语是“具有…的优点”，即have advantages of…(名词)
“安全、快捷、舒适”要以名词的形式出现在介词of后，即safety，fastness and comfort。
第三句的译文为“Subways have advantages of safety, fastness and comfort.”
第四句解析
第四句，
“越来越多的人选择地铁作为每天上班或上学的主要交通工具。”
“越来越多的”见第一句解析。
“作为”介词用as。
“交通工具”用vehicle这个词表示。Vehicle指交通工具，车辆，比如：car汽车，plane飞机，train火车，boat船，bicycle自行车，taxi出租车等都属vehicle一类。
第四句的译文为“A growing number of people choose subways as main vehicles to work or school every day.”
可以将第三句和第四句这两个简单句整合成一个复合句，即主句+从句。
因为地铁快捷方便，所以大家优先选择地铁。
“因为”的表达方式有：due to，thanks to，owing to，as a result of，on account of等，但是这些词组后面加短语。（怎么加句子？办法总会有的。）可以用一个句子作后置定语修饰该短语。如：“地铁快捷方便”是事实，所以加上短语/名词fact或其它词，句子“地铁方便”放在名词后修饰。
整合成一句话为“Thanks to the fact that subways have advantages of safety, fastness and comfort, a growing number of people choose them as main vehicles to work or school every day.”
第五句解析
第五句，
“如今，在中国乘坐地铁正变得越来越方便。”
这句话用句型“it is +adj./adv. + to do sth.”来表示。
其中it是形式主语，to do是真正主语。如果把真正主语放在最前面会显得头重脚轻，所以才会有it这个形式主语的存在。
“正变得“表示该句子的时态是正在进行时，用be doing表达正在做某事。
“乘地铁“的词组为take the subway。”乘坐某交通工具“用take这一动词，也可用介词by，如：take the subway=by subway（by和subway之间没有任何词，就只是by subway，再比如by taxi, by bus, by plane等）。
“方便的“为convenient。（注意该单词拼写）

“乘客“的单词是passenger。
“用某物做某事“的词组为use sb. to do sth.

第七句解析
第七句，
“许多当地老年市民还可以免费乘坐地铁。“
“当地的“用local表示。
“老年人“的表达方式有：the elderly，elderly people，senior citizens。
因为citizen有“市民“之意，如果要字字翻译，”老年市民“可用senior citizens表示。
