Jennifer: Are you still looking for an apartment?
Vicki: Yes. I’m still looking.
Jennifer: Well, there’s a very nice apartment in my building now.
Vicki: Oh, really? Tell me more about it.
Jennifer: There are three large windows in the living room and there’s a nice kitchen and two closets in the bedroom.
Vicki: How many bedrooms are there?
Jennifer: There are two bedrooms.
Vicki: Great! I like it.
Jennifer: Good. It’s on Main Street, so it’s nice but not very cheap.
Vicki: It doesn’t matter.
Jennifer: Fine. I can show you around this Sunday. Is it OK?
Vicki : No problem.
Jennifer说,“There’s a nice kitchen and two closets in the bedroom.”
There is an orange and some bananas in the basket.
There are some bananas and an orange in the basket.
第一个句子的主语是an orange和some bananas,第二个句子的主语是some bananas和an orange(两个句子an orange和some bananas)。
第一句是an orange, 第二句是some bananas,所以它们的谓语动词一个是is,一个是are。
As the saying goes, “ A near neighbor is better than a distant cousin.”
