GRE阅读长难句分析只需4步

GRE阅读中的长难句一直是备考生们比较头疼的一项，要不就是生词太多，无从下手去翻译;又或者是分不清结构，把修饰成分张冠李戴，从而做错题;

今天我来教大家一种简单高效的分析方法

——长难句分析四步法

总共分为这4步 Step1：判断从句存否，存在则将从句拿掉，先理解主句

Step2：删掉主句中的修饰成分(介词短语和非谓语)

Step3：在剩余的部分中分析句子的主干

Step4：将修饰成分和从句加回逐个分析

以这句为例

Hardy’s weakness derived from his apparent inability to control the coming and goings of these divergent impulses and from his unwillingness to cultivate and sustain the energetic and risky ones.

解释

介词from的宾语有两个并列的部分，由and所连接，在and之后的第二个from前，省略了前面一样的谓语动词derive。本句之所以难，有两个原因，一是derivedfrom 后面的成分太长，初学者难以一下子看下来;二是作为一篇文科文章，用词抽象，难以迅速理解。

接下来我们来逐步分析一下

Step1：判断从句存否，存在则将从句拿掉，先理解主句，这个句子没有从句

Step2：删掉主句中的修饰成分(介词短语和非谓语)

英语中的修饰成分通常由介词短语和非谓语来承担，因此可以先将主句中的这两者拿掉，以此来寻找句子的的主干，句子中的介词短语和非谓语部分如下颜色标涂部分：

Hardy’s weakness derived from his apparent inability to control the coming and goings of these divergent impulses and from his unwillingnessto cultivate and sustain the energetic and risky ones.

所以，删掉句子中的修饰成分以后，结果是：

Step3：在剩余的部分中分析句子的主干

谓语是derived from and from;主语是Hardy’s weakness。

宾语：inability，unwillingness

意思是：哈代的缺陷一方面缘起于他的某种明显的无能，另一方面缘起于他不愿意。

Step4：将修饰成分和从句加回逐个分析
