1.基数词在句子中的作用

① 作主语，但数词前面一般要加上定冠词 the。

The four swam across the river at last. 那四个人最终游过了河。

② 作定语

I have three big apples. 我有三个大苹果。

③ 作表语

What"s five and six?It"s eleven. 五加六是多少？是十一。

④ 作宾语

－How many do you want? 你想要多少？

－(I want)Five,please. 我想要五个。

⑤ 作同位语

Is there any room for us two? 有我们两个人的房间吗？

You three are really crazy. 你们三个简直是疯了。

2.hundred，thousand，million和 billion的用法

①表示具体数字时，如前面有数词，hundred，thousand，million，billion要用单数形式。

There are three thousand students in my school. 我们学校有3000人。

Two hundred workers refused to work any longer. 200名工人拒绝再工作。

②表示成百上千/万等非具体数字，hundred，thousand，million，billion 要用复数形式。

They spent millions of dollars building the bridge. 他们花了上百万美元修建了那座大桥。

Thousands of people were killed during the earthquake. 成千上万的人死于那场地震。

3.几十年代和年龄的表达法

①表示在几十年代时，应将几十年代改用复数形式，形成in the＋几十的复数。

His father was born in the nineteen fifties/in 1950"s. 他父亲出生于20世纪50年代。

In the nineteen sixties/in 1960’s,many people in China lived a poor life. 20世纪60年代，很多中国人过着贫穷的生活。

②表示某人几十岁时，应将几十岁改用复数形式，形成in one"s＋几十岁的复数。

In my twenties,I even didn"t know what television was. 我二十几岁时还竟然不知道电视是什么。

My grandfather got retired in his sixties. 我爷爷六十几岁时退休了。
