前面我们说了状语从句之时间状语从句，地点状语从句，条件状语从句，目的状语从句的相关知识内容，本篇着重谈一下结果状语从句。
一、状语从句的分类
1、 时间状语从句。

（3）结果状语从句有时可用such（a）+名词（词组）+that...构成
（1）结果状语从句表示主句的结果，所以总是位于主句之后，用sothat或so...that...引导
->例句1：Many wives shoulder the prime responsibility for running the home，so that in most families the loss of the wife is more devastating than the loss of the husband.［许多妻子肩负起了养家的主要责任，所以对于多数家庭而言，失去妻子往往比失去丈夫更具有毁灭性。］
->例句2：My suitcase had become damaged on the way home，so that the lid would not stay closed.［在回家的路上，我的衣箱坏了，盖子盖不住了。］
->例句3：They have been so successful that they are moving to Bond Street.［一直以来，他们都很成功，最近他们就要搬到邦德街去住了。］
（2）结果状语还常用so...as to do的结构表示（仅是不定式短语，非从句形式）
->例句1：The crowd is so large as to overflow the auditorium.［报告厅里的人太多了，以至于挤都挤不进去。］
->例句2：They were so surprised as not to try to stop him.［他们很吃惊，以至于没有试图拦下他。］
->例句3：He dressed so quickly as to put his boots on the wrong feet.［他穿得太急了，把靴子都穿在了相反的脚上。］
（3）结果状语从句有时可用such（a）+名词（词组）+that...构成
->例句1：I slapped her hand and she got such a shock that she dropped the bag.［我打了一下她的手，她一惊，把包给扔了。］
->例句2：They obeyed him with such willingness that the strike went on for over a year.［他们心甘情愿地服从他，以至于这起罢工持续了一年多。］
->例句3：These birds have such small wings that they cannot get into the air even if they try.［这些鸟的翅膀太小了，即使它们再努力，也不能飞上天去。］
（4）有时such that连写在一起，也可引导结果状语从句（有人理解为“同位语从句”）；为了强调语气，还可以将such前置到句首，采用倒装结构
->例句1：The extent of the disaster was such that the local authorities were quite unable to cope.［这起灾难很严重，地方当局根本无力应付。］
->例句2：Her anxiety was such that she couldn"t fall into asleep last night.［她太焦虑了，以至于昨晚不能入睡。］
->例句3：Such was the power of suggestion that within a very few minutes she fellasleep.［暗示的力量很强，几分钟之内她就睡着了。］
