机不可失 用英语怎么表达（可以不用 chance 或 opportunity）

机会是给有准备的人，就像天道酬勤（God helps those who help themselves），因此要停止白日梦和无所事事，时刻做好准备，争分夺秒，利用有限的生命去发现或创造无限的可能。

都有“机会”的意思，chance 和 opportunity 却不尽相同，chance 往往带有不确定性，而 opportunity 通常是积极或褒义的，这就是为什么 take a chance (on sth) 是冒险做某事的意思，而 take the opportunity to do sth 是利用机会做某事。

虽然都有“机会”的意思，但是当我们表达“机不可失”的时候，可以丝毫不用它们中的任何一个，而用 now or never，这个组合跟之前的 give or take 类似。

我们知道 or 是并列联盟 FANBOYS 里的一员，连接两个对等的成分，用来表示选择，那么 now or never 的字面意思是“现在或永不“，它也是一种选择，用来比喻现在是唯一的机会，也就是勿失良机，例如：

在一些大片里的那些到了生死攸关的镜头，常常会有“It"s now or never!” 这句，就是要劝对方抓住机会赶紧行动，那些话多的坏人都是因为没抓住机会就被反被结果了。Now or never 的意思类似于格言 there"s no time like the present，意为“机不可失，把握当下”等，例如：

There"s no time like the present, so let"s go ahead and get the application started.

机不可失，所以让我们开始启动应用程序吧。

Don"t wait until New Year to resolve to organise your life. There"s no time like the present.

不要等到新年才下决心规划生活。要把握当下。

格言 there"s no time like the present 最早记录是在1562年，编撰者约翰·特鲁斯勒（John Trusler）对此进行了进一步的阐述：“

No time like the present, a thousand unforeseen circumstances may interrupt you at a future time.

把握当下，一千个不可预见的情况可能会在将来的某个时候打扰到你。

因此下次劝别人要抓住机会时，记不住 chance 或 opportunity 的用法也没关系，可以使用 it"s now or never 或 there"s no time like the present，简单又有味道，我们也可以使用这两句来勉励自己把握当下，今日事今日毕。
