“白酒”用英语怎么说（推荐几种比较常见的译法）

具有民族特色的物品怎么翻译？比如白酒、饺子、粽子、月饼、青团等，在国外文化中并没有类似的对应物。但有时候，当我们向国外传播中华文化的时候，就需要对这些中国或亚洲地区所特有的东西进行解释了。今天就以白酒为例，学习五种比较常见的表达方法。顺便聊一聊咱们国家的白酒品牌译法。

1.Baijiu/Chinese Baijiu/Cheiw

没错，白酒最常见的译法就是拼音Baijiu。拼音译法也是传统文化物品的常用译法。国外的售酒网站会直接使用Baijiu或Chinese Baijiu。

维基百科的英文版也是直接使用了拼音Baijiu作为词条。Cheiw是按照英文的发音习惯拼写的，就像是清华大学Tsinghua University，英文中没有Qing，使用Tsing的发音更方便。所以目前国内还是流传下来了很多类似的拼写词语，北大也是一样的Peking University。

而根据英文版《环球日报》的介绍，Chinese Baijiu从今年开始，已经成为了中国白酒的官方译法。

2.Chinese liquor

liquor指烈性酒，如伏特加和威士忌等。中国的白酒也属于烈性酒，前面加上Chinese，特指中国白酒。

3.Chinese spirit

根据咱们国家发布的《公共服务领域英文译写规范》，白酒被译为Liquor and Spirits。在实际应用中，Chinese spirit的使用频率不及Chinese liquor。有的小伙伴认为spirit一定要加复数，其实直接使用单数是没问题的。我们在看英文菜单的时候会发现Spirits选项，指的是各种烈性酒。

以下还有两种译法实际上是对白酒的解释，平时也可以使用，但往往还是会和Baijiu形影不离。

4.Chinese distilled spirit

白酒是一种蒸馏酒，所以有时会用distilled spirit。很多酿酒厂的英文就是Distillery

没错，这个例子之前已经用过了，因为这种表达的出现频率确实不高。

5.white alcohol/liquor

这种表达同4一样，常作为对Baijiu的解释。

Baijiu translate directly as “white liquor” and is made from sorghum, white rice, sticky rice, wheat, corn, or a blend of these ingredients.

6和7也需要列出来，因为这两种用法也是常见的，虽然表达并不严谨，但大家一说，基本上都知道大差不差是白酒了。但在正规的翻译或文化介绍中，最好还是使用前5种，尤其是第1种。因为中国酒除了指Chinese Baijiu以外，还包括Chinese Beer和Chinese Wine。

白酒的译法现在明白了，那么国内常见的茅台、五粮液等怎么翻译呢？随便选两个售酒网站Drizly: Alcohol Delivery和Travel China Cheaper就会发现，译法有三种：

1.直接使用拼音

茅台：Maotai/Moutai

泸州老窖：Luzhou Laojiao is one of the four oldest distilleries in China and originated way back during the Ming Dynasty.

2.拼音后加上Liquor

金门高粱酒Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor

3.拼音后加上Jiu/Cheiw/Baijiu

西凤酒Xifeng Jiu

剑南春Jian Nan Chun Cheiw

五粮液：Wuliangye Baijiu is a blend of the sacred “5 grains” in China.
