uses some less common and idiomatic vocabulary and shows some awareness of style andcollocation, with some inappropriate choices.

所谓地道程度:主要包含两项:idioms(习语)和phrasal verbs(动词短语)。

下面我们依次来深入探讨它们的使用和加分优势。

1、Idioms(习语)

定义:An idiom is a group of words which have a different meaning when used together from the one they would have if you took the meaning of each word separately.

习语就是一个神奇的单词组合体,单独的每一个word,意思会很简单,但放在一起,就变得有点不明觉厉,可以表达出很地道的意思。

拿一道part1的雅思口语题来说:

Do you often visit your relatives?

范例:Honestly, I visit my relatives once in a blue moon. It’s not that I don’t love them. It’s just that I hate to take orders from them. Especially at the dinning table, I am always told not toeat like a horse. (1.很难得,极为罕见 2. 狼吞虎咽的吃饭)

再比如:How do you feel when you are in crowded places?

范例:I guess, I might feel kind of annoyed or irritated, ‘coz all the people and all the noises just get to me. I feel like my zone of inner peace has been invaded. (get to sb, 影响到某人)

以上两个习语在雅思口语的使用方式,展示了它微妙且又让人印象深刻的力量。

2、Phrasal verbs(动词短语)

定义:A phrasal verb is a combination of a verb and an adverb or preposition, for example "shut up" or "look after", which togetherhave a particular meaning.

动词短语有别于单一的verb,拥有了更丰富和地道的含义。

举例:Do you like to smile?

范例:Yea, definitely. Smiling to other, to some extent, is a useful way of expressing my kindness. Particularly, when I firstrun intosomeone, I wish my genuine and contagious smile would help to melt their heart, making them believe I’m someone they cancount on. (1. run into= meet, 遇见,偶遇 2. Count on= trust=believe, 相信,信任)

又比如:Do you think it’s difficult to learn mathematics well?

范例:well, very challenging…I would say. The main reason is that most math problems require people to master a range of skills, like critical thinking, strict logic as well as patience. To me, it’s like a mission impossible. I often find it tough to figure outthose mathematic puzzles accurately. (figure out =solve, 解决)

词汇这种东西是没有穷尽的,口语的好坏其实和所用的词汇的高级程度并非是绝对的正比关系,反而需要大家留心的细节有太多,要注意的问题太多。比如大家常说的things其实可以换成stuff;like可以用be keen on;be big on等说法替换。

再比如大家要学会使用副词,比如如果你说的是很简单的I"m not feeling very well你可以在最后加一个physically或者emotionally来加以具体说明,还能给句子来个小亮点。可以看到,能够掌握一些地道小词、短语的用法必定能为你的答案添色不少。

讲了这么多,相信大家对于地道词汇的给力,有了全新的认识。为了在下次口语中可以有不错表现,开始认真积累吧!
