office worker / desk jockey (n.) 上班族

office 意指「办公室」，office worker 指的即是「在办公室上班的人；上班族」。

同义词还有 desk jockey，jockey 意指「操作员」，同样指「办公室工作人员；上班族」。

As an office worker, I try to make my workspace as comfortable as possible.作为一个上班族，我尽可能让我的办公室环境舒适。

steady job/work (n.) 稳定的工作

steady 为形容词，意思是「稳定的；稳固的」，steady job 或 steady work 皆是指「长期且稳定的工作」。

I have a steady job but it can be boring at times. 拥有一份稳定的工作，但有时候会很无聊。

office hours (n.) 上班时间

office hours 意指「上班时间；办公时间」，或说 business hours，注意 hours 一定要用复数形唷！

举例 Office Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM from Monday to Friday 就表示「办公时间：周一至五早上八点至下午五点」。

regular (adj.) 规律的

regular 意指「规律的；定时的」，如 regular physical exam (定期体检)、regular use of medication (定期用药)。它的反义词则是 irregular (不规律的)。

We make regular visits to see our grandmother in the country.我们定期拜访我们奶奶。The patient was told that his heartbeat was irregular and required further examination.病患被告知心跳规律不整，需要进一步检查。

commute (v.) 通勤

commute 意指「通勤」，commute from A to B 指的即是「从 A 地通勤至 B 地」，commute between A and B 则是「在 AB 地之间往返」。

I commute from Kunshan to Shanghai for work.我从昆山通勤至上海工作。It takes about an hour and a half to commute betweenmy home and my office.往返我家和学校要大约一个半小时。

flexibility (n.) 弹性

flexibility 意指「弹性」，源自形容词 flexible (有弹性的；可变动的)，如: flexible working hours (弹性工作时间)。

My job offers plenty of flexibility. I can choose to work from home or at the office.我的工作有很多弹性，我可以选择要在家工作还是进办公室。

Mike 为何会提到这些单词呢？我们来看看以下对话。

Mike: Another good thing is that I finally have a regular daily routine.Mike：另一个很棒的事是，我终于有规律的生活作息了。Bob: Oh yeah, I remember that you used to have multiple part-time jobs. It was hard to make plans with you at the weekend because your schedule was always changing.Bob：噢对，你从前有很多个兼职。因为工作，你周末都很难约。Mike: And sometimes I even had to wake up at midnight for the night shift.Mike：而且我有时候甚至必须半夜起来上夜班。Bob: Sounds rough.Bob：听起来很困难。Mike: Now I have a fixed work schedule, I can finally sleep on time and wake up at the same time every morning.
