Mike boasted that he could speak Chinese.

Mike 吹牛说他可说中文。

He boasted about/of his villa he bought last year in Italy.

他夸耀去年在意大利买的别墅。

gloat

contemplate or dwell on one"s own success or another"s misfortune with smugness or malignant pleasure幸灾乐祸，洋洋得意【强调看到别人的不幸自己很高兴，所以幸灾乐祸】

There is no need to gloat about/at/over other"s misfortune.

没有必要对别人的不幸感到幸灾乐祸。

crow

say something in a tone of gloating satisfaction自鸣得意，洋洋得意【感到得意，比如说2003年江苏省高考，全班就你一个人数学及格了。意思接近 gloat】

“I knew it,” she crowed.

她得意洋洋地说：“我就知道会这样！”

还可以说 crow about/over，意为对什么洋洋得意。

He kept crowing about his success in the final exam.

smug

having or showing an excessive pride in oneself or one"s achievements沾沾自喜【强调一种自满的心态】

I can"t afford to be smug.

我可不敢沾沾自喜。

complacent

showing smug or uncritical satisfaction with oneself or one"s achievements自满的【强调自满的心态。和 smug 为同义词。】

The Prime Minister was complacent about the economic progress achieved during his term.

首相对他任期内取得的经济发展感到自满。
