英语 much（as 与 much less 的区别）

英语中，much as 和 much less 两个词组的写法很相近，但是意思并不相同，今天我们一起学习一下两个词组的用法。

1. much as：这个词组是“虽然很，尽管”的意思，表让步关系。

例句1：Much as I should like to go, I can’t go right now.

虽然我很想走，但是我现在走不了。

例句2: Much as they hope to go home tomorrow, they"re resigned to staying on until the end of the year.

尽管他们很希望明天就回家，但不得不待到年底。

2. much less: 这个词组是“更不用说”的意思。

例句3：I didn’t even see her, much less speak to her.

我根本就没看到她，更不用说和她说话了。

例句4：We are always short of water to drink, much less to bathe in.

我们总是缺饮用水，更不用说洗澡水了。

Much less 在这一用法时，一般前面有一个逗号，词组后的动词形式与主句的形式保持一致。当然后面也可跟其它词性的词。

例句5： To get a date, much less a proposal, you have to act like a gentlewoman.

为了得到一个约会，更不用说是求婚，你必须表现得像一个淑女。
