英语中一般过去时和过去完成时的区别
一般过去时和过去完成时都表示完成的过去动作，一般过去时描述过去发生的事情，一般是按顺序的；而过去完成时是基于过去的一个时间点之前发生的事情。那么如何区分这两个时态呢？
一、标志词
1、相对于过去完成时，在表示过去发的动作时，一般过去时常用的标志词有副词 first, then，例如：
first:
Who came first in the race?
赛跑谁第一？
I do not remember who spoke first, but we all expressed the same opinion.
我不记得是谁最先发言的，但我们全都表达了相同的看法。
then:
Life was harder then because neither of us had a job.
那时生活比较艰苦，因为我俩都没有工作。
Things were very different back then .
以前那个时候情况大不相同。
注意：并不是说所有带有 first 和 then 的句子都用一般过去时，例如:
A: Do you want a drink?
你想喝杯饮料吗？
B: I"ll finish my work first.
我要先完成工作。
I"ve been invited too, so I"ll see you then.
我也接到邀请，我们到那时见。
2、相对于一般过去时，在表示过去的动作，过去完成时常用的标志词有 already, up to then，例如：
already:
We got there early but Mike had already left.
我们及早到了那里，但是迈克已经离开了。
They had already voted for him at the first ballot
在第一次投票选举时，他们已经投票给他了。
解析：already 也可以用于过去时，多见于美式英语，例如：
He already finished his work.
他已经完成了他的工作。
up to then:
In fact , up to then , I never had been so truly free in my life.
事实上，到那时为止，我的生活从未如此自由过。
Up to then, she had managed pretty well.
到那时为止，她干得还不错。
二、与 before, after 和 when 连用时的区别
1、before
All passengers boarded/had boarded before the plane took off.
飞机起飞前所有乘客都登机了。
解析：此句 before 本身已表示出时间的先后，表示 before 从句的动作发生在其他动作之后，所以这句即可以用一般过去时，也可以用过去完成时。
The plane took off before all passengers had boarded.
飞机在所有乘客登机前起飞了。
解析：此句表示当其他动作已经开始时，before 从句的动作还没完成，所以只能用过去完成时，相当于 before 从句的动作在其它动作开始之前已经发生，只是还没有完成。
2、after
After the safety demonstration, the plane took off.
安全演示后，飞机起飞了。
解析：此句 after 后面没有谓语动词，这里表示事情发生的先后顺序，用一般过去式。
After the flight attendants had completed/completed the safety demonstration, the plane took off.
乘务员完成安全演示后，飞机起飞了。
解析：由于 after 本身已表示出时间的先后，所以这句即可以用一般过去时，也可以用过去完成时。
3、when
She had already fastened her seatbelt when the flight attendants gavethe safety demonstration.
当乘务员进行安全演示时，她已经系好了安全带。
解析：当 when 从句后面的动作 gave 发生在主句动作 fastened 之后时，主句动作用过去完成时，因为的从句的动作发生在过去，所以主句的动作是发生在过去的过去，所以用过去完成时。
When she had fastened her seatbelt, the flight attendants gave the safety demonstration.
她系好安全带后，乘务员进行了安全演示。
解析：当 when 从句的动作 fastened 发生在主句动作 gave 之前时，从句动作用过去完成时，因为主句的动作发生在过去，所以从句的动作是发生在过去的过去，所以用过去完成时。
